Mono-Ipolyfabric Ltd.’s project goal was to develop a new „green industry” automotive technology for decorative interior parts production that significantly decreases the previous technological layer structures while preserving the stability and durability of the products in such an innovative way that would comply with the very strict automotive industry testing process.

Mono research engineers analysed the potential risks of changing the layer structure, finalized the potential variations and defined the decorative parts that was going to be the object of experiments.

They designed and got manufactured special tooling (press tools, back-injection tools, CNC milling jigs and PUR injection tools) necessary for the experimental productions.

From the selected decorative part four rounds of samples were produced, tested and readjusted in order to get the research results. Eventually, the last round of tests and the final evaluation were done on the current, running production models.

As a result of this research project the layer structure thickness of the premium car interior decorative parts produced by Mono-Ipolyfabric Ltd has decreased by 30%, the machine hours for production by 45%, the scrap and waste prodution by 20% and CO2 emission by 10%.

The outcome of the 1.5-year long research provides Mono with a USP in sales and strategic advantage by developing a product which is more standardized and more environmentally friendly than that of the competitors.
